Studies have shown children who are mentored have improved self-esteem, do better in school, are more likely to graduate or seek higher education, and reduces the likelihood of initiating risky behavior such as drinking alcohol or using drugs. There are some eligibility requirements to ensure the safety of the children in our program. Mentors must be 18 years of age, agree to a one year commitment with four hours of quality time a month, have no criminal history, and have a good driving record and proof of insurance. Also check out our recent article in the Press Enterprise @http://www.pe.com/family/stories/PE_News_Local_S_mentoring06.379f214.html
